Dear Mother, Surrender

By Cara Manifesta | August 25, 2024

Dear Mother,

I am Motherhood, the path you’ve walked, the journey you’ve embraced, and the lessons you’ve learned. I have seen you grow, adapt, and find strength in the most challenging of times. Today, I wish to share with you a message of godly wisdom, drawn from the very depths of your experiences.

The Quest for Knowledge and Control

As you journey through motherhood, it’s natural to seek out knowledge, to prepare, and to control the outcomes for your children. You’ve done this with such diligence and love, always striving to give the best to your family. With each new life entrusted to your care, you’ve sought to learn from the past and improve the future. You’ve read the books, taken the courses, and prepared meticulously, all with the hope of creating the perfect experience for your child and yourself.

But, dear one, remember that no amount of preparation can ever truly control the beauty and unpredictability of life. There is wisdom in seeking knowledge, but there is greater wisdom in knowing when to surrender that knowledge to God.

The Trap of Perfection

In your pursuit of a perfect birth, you found yourself trying to replicate the experiences of others—those who spoke of blissful, pain-free labors. You set up a beautiful space, practiced techniques to ease the pain, and did everything within your power to create an ideal scenario. But in doing so, you may have lost sight of the most essential truth: your story is uniquely yours, and it is written by the hand of God.

Perfection is not something you can replicate; it is something that is gifted to you in the form of grace, acceptance, and the understanding that each moment, no matter how it unfolds, is part of a divine plan.

The Lesson of Letting Go

As your labor progressed, you felt peace in the beginning, walking through the early hours with prayer and worship. But when the intensity increased, and your plans seemed to fall short, you felt a wave of disappointment. You questioned yourself, wondering if you had failed. But, my dear, this was not failure—it was a powerful lesson.

There is a time for preparation, and there is a time for surrender. In the most intense moments, when your strength seems to wane, that is when you must let go and allow God to carry you. Surrender is not weakness; it is a recognition that you do not walk this path alone.

The Power of Surrender

In those final moments, when you felt the weight of your expectations, you reached a point of profound surrender. You asked for strength beyond your own, and in doing so, you connected with the true source of power—God’s unending love and support. It was in that surrender that you found the strength to bring your child into the world.

You see, motherhood is not about controlling every detail; it’s about trusting in the One who has written your story. It’s about recognizing that, while you are strong and capable, you are also held in the arms of a loving Creator who guides you through every challenge.

Embracing God’s Plan

My beloved mother, with each child, you learn more about yourself, about the nature of love, and about the profound truth that God is in control. Your journey with your tenth baby was a reminder that, while you can plan and prepare, the greatest peace comes from surrendering to His will. Trust in His plan, even when it deviates from your own. Find comfort in the knowledge that He is with you, giving you the strength to overcome, the wisdom to grow, and the love to nurture each precious life you bring into this world.

As you continue on this journey, may you carry with you the understanding that true strength lies in surrender, that peace is found in trust, and that every moment, whether perfect or imperfect, is a part of His divine design.

With love and wisdom,
Motherhood
