Dear Mother, Laundry

By Cara Manifesta | December 14, 2023

 Dear Mother,

I have not burdened you in respect to laundry. Although I hear your complaints and see your time spent; this part of us is necessary. What a blessing, you have two washers and dryers to help get the job done. Also, your continued purging and storing unused, too small, or wrong season clothing make sure they are not needlessly thrown in to be washed.

You seem to enjoy hanging the sheets and towels on the line. This is a beautiful way to stop and pray, enjoy the sunshine on your face, and get outside. I do not mean to overwhelm you. I saw how you shared this task with your 10-year-old, what a beautiful time with your middle daughter. remember, folding the clothes and linens make a great way to slow down, listen to a podcast, or talk with a child while you teach their little hands to fold.

This is not a painting, or a fancy dinner, a party, or a trip to the beach, but if your attitude is spent the same way will teach your children to love these tasks because they are spent with you. I’m not asking to fake your love of laundry, but remember to be thankful for your clothes to wear, your families ability to dress for any occasion, for your machines that allow you to spend your time elsewhere during the day, and for the time outdoors. And don’t forget your precious time training, talking, and even singing to your children.

I am proud dear mother. You are blessed. Embrace this time. Create a system for yourself. 2 to 4 loads of laundry a day work best for your family of 12. Don’t forget to include your little helpers and above all, be thankful, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.

Love,

 Motherhood
